Quickstart: Your New Linux Computer
First logon
If you log on for the first time to a computer, make sure the computer is connected by network cable to the MPI-P network, so your account gets synchronized to the computer.
If this is the first time to log on to any MPI-P computer you have to change the password at logon:
Now, reboot the computer (the printing system needs a first logon to start properly).
Maintenance: disk encryption and updates
Open a Terminal to run these commands, e.g. by using the key combination CTRL+Alt+t.
The disk is encrypted: you got the password when you got the laptop. When you change the password you'll be asked first for your account's password and then the disk password. Use this command to change the disk password:
change-disk-password.sh
Please update the system regularly using this command:
doas install-updates.sh
