One-Time Password Services

PDF-Version

Some of the MPI-P services are now protected by one-time passwords (OTP).

The OTP type we use is called “time-based”, that is, the password changes every 30 seconds.

Typically we supply you with a QR code which contains the password generating information. You'll have to scan this code with a password generating App. We tested four of those:

  • Google Authenticator: Works very well; on iphones you may have to remove the app and download it again, if you have an older version.
  • Mobile Duo: Works very well. too. This is the only of the four authenticators currently available in the Huawei App Store, too.
  • Microsoft Authenticator: crashes on iphone when supplied with an invalid QR code.
  • FreeOTP: Ok, but you may get warnings that it is developed for an older version of Android and you should check if there is e newer version available.
